PNGDF Solidarity March to Mark 50th Independence Jubilee Heads into Madang.

As part of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force’s program for the country’s 50th Golden Jubilee Independence celebrations, the Solidarity March from Moem Barracks in East Sepik Province is now making its way into Madang Province.

Yesterday morning, Acting Provincial Administrator Daniel Aloi and Chairman of the Madang Provincial Events Committee Siegfried Beschel met with the PNGDF administration team to discuss preparations for receiving the soldiers.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Aloi described the march as a powerful event that will unite people across the country.

“This will give additional value to our 50th anniversary,” he said.

Madang is now prepared to receive the soldiers. This Saturday, the province will host the first leg of the baton handover. The baton will be passed to soldiers from Igam Barracks in Morobe Province, who are also marching toward Madang.

From there, the Igam soldiers will carry the baton and continue the solidarity march through Morobe to Gulf, then to Central Province, and finally to NCD.

The PNGDF march symbolizes national unity and pride as Papua New Guinea approaches its historic 50th Independence anniversary.
