Students from Divine Word University Madang Students Association (DWUMSA) delivered books and conducted an educational awareness program at Transgogol Secondary School on Wednesday, 10 June.
The awareness aimed to give Grade 11 and 12 students clear information on how to apply to Divine Word University and how to make informed choices when applying to secure a space in universities and colleges across Papua New Guinea.
The team also provided details on entry requirements, programs offered at DWU Madang Campus, and tips for completing school leaver forms correctly.
Joining the DWUMSA team by Advent, a former Madang Technical college student and current leader of Madang Tertiary Students Union, who shared information on programs offered at Madang Technical College. His contribution gave students broader options for post-secondary pathways.
Students from other provinces also joined the DWUMSA outreach team. Organisers expressed appreciation for their time and effort, noting that the collaboration reflects a growing spirit of unity. “This is the time we must unite as Papua New Guineans and stand for change. This little collaboration can lead to bigger things later,” one DWUMSA student said.

Staff and students of Transgogol Secondary School warmly welcomed the DWUMSA team and visiting students. The school administration thanked the team for the donated books, which will support student learning and literacy.
After the educational session, the team facilitated an interactive awareness on social issues currently affecting young people in schools, including drug and alcohol abuse, peer pressure, and the importance of gutpela sindaun. Students engaged actively through questions and group discussions.
A Transgogol Secondary Deputy Acedemic teacher , Mr Teisua said the program was timely and relevant. “Our students need this kind of guidance. Many are unsure about what course offered in the Divine Word University and life after Grade 12. This helps them see what is possible make right choices when it comes to apply to secure a space in universities or colleges.”
DWUMSA confirmed that the Transgogol visit marks the launch of a wider outreach program. The association plans to visit other secondary schools in Madang Province to conduct similar educational awareness on programs offered at DWU Madang Campus.
The day ended with photos and words of encouragement, with both schools committing to ongoing partnership for student development.
