Madang kickboxer Jude Makeng from Middle Ramu District has advanced to the semi-finals of the Last Man Standing Kickboxing Championship, with the next stage of the competition scheduled for Port Moresby on August 30, 2026.

Makeng secured his place in the semi-finals after winning his bout at the Hit Number One event in Goroka in May before progressing through the quarter-finals held in Port Moresby in June.

He will now face Topi Eka in the semi-final, with the winner advancing to the grand final of the championship.

Makeng said he is focused on giving his best performance and achieving his goal of reaching the final.

“I’m looking forward to the semi-final and hope to make it to the grand final,” he said.

The Middle Ramu fighter began his kickboxing journey in 2008 and has competed in numerous bouts throughout Papua New Guinea. He said his passion for the sport was inspired by his uncles, who encouraged him to pursue kickboxing.

Makeng acknowledged his coach Levi Kambing for his continued guidance and support throughout his career. He also thanked the Madang Provincial Government, led by Governor Hon. Ramsey Pariwa, through the Madang Sport Office, as well as the Patron of Madang Kickboxing, Kurere Matanzana, for their support.

With strong backing from his team and supporters, Makeng is determined to represent Madang Province with pride as he fights for a place in the Last Man Standing grand final.
